Description

This Chili Maple Glazed Salmon recipe features wild salmon fillets broiled to perfection with a spicy and sweet chili-paprika rub and finished with a luscious caramelized maple glaze. Ready in just 15 minutes, it’s a quick and flavorful dish perfect for an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon and Seasoning

  • 1 lb. wild salmon fillets
  • Big pinch of salt and pepper

Spice Rub

  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon coconut sugar

Glaze

  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Broiler: Preheat your oven’s broiler on high to ensure even and fast cooking of the salmon fillets.
  2. Prepare the Salmon: Lightly oil the salmon fillets and place them skin-side down on a rimmed baking sheet. Season generously with salt and pepper to bring out the natural flavors.
  3. Make the Spice Rub: In a small bowl, whisk together chili powder, paprika, and coconut sugar. Rub this spice mixture evenly over the top of each salmon fillet to create a balanced, spicy-sweet coating.
  4. Cook the Salmon: Place the baking sheet on the top rack of the oven and broil the salmon for about 8 minutes, or until the fillets are opaque, flaky, and cooked through without being dry.
  5. Apply the Maple Glaze: Remove the salmon from the oven and brush the 2 tablespoons of pure maple syrup generously over the top of each fillet. Return the salmon to the broiler for an additional 1-2 minutes, until the glaze bubbles and caramelizes slightly for a beautiful, glossy finish.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Remove from the oven and serve immediately while warm and flavorful.

Notes

  • Use wild salmon for the best flavor and texture.
  • Keep a close eye while broiling to prevent burning, especially during the maple syrup glaze step.
  • You can substitute coconut sugar with brown sugar if unavailable.
  • For a spicier dish, increase the chili powder slightly or add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a balanced meal.
