Ingredients
Scale
Spring Roll Filling
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup chopped mushrooms
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil (for sautéing)
Wrapping
- 8 spring roll wrappers
- Water (for sealing)
- Cooking spray or a light oil spray
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add oil. Once hot, sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add the shredded cabbage, carrots, and mushrooms, cooking for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender yet still crisp.
- Flavor the Filling: Drizzle soy sauce and sesame oil over the cooked vegetables. Stir well to combine and season with salt, pepper, and optional pepper flakes to taste. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Wrap the Spring Rolls: Place a spring roll wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon approximately 2 tablespoons of the filling onto one corner. Fold the corner over the filling and then fold in the sides tightly, rolling it up like a burrito. Seal the edge with a little water to keep it closed. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Set the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat while you prepare the spring rolls.
- Air Fry the Spring Rolls: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Arrange the spring rolls in a single layer without overcrowding them. Lightly spray the tops of the rolls with oil. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Serve Hot: Carefully remove the spring rolls from the air fryer. Garnish with fresh chopped cilantro if desired and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
- Do not overfill the spring rolls as it makes wrapping difficult and may cause them to burst during cooking.
- You can customize the filling with other vegetables like bell peppers or bean sprouts.
- For extra crispiness, flip the spring rolls halfway through air frying.
- Serve with sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or peanut sauce for dipping.
- Leftover spring rolls can be reheated in the air fryer for a few minutes to retain crispness.
