Description

This Easy Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy recipe is a comforting, hands-off meal featuring tender boneless chicken breasts cooked slowly in a flavorful blend of ranch seasoning, onion soup mix, cream of chicken soup, and chicken broth. The crock pot method ensures juicy, flavorful chicken paired with a rich, creamy gravy perfect for serving over rice, mashed potatoes, or noodles.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Seasoning and Sauce

  • 1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 packet (1 oz) onion soup mix
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth (or water)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crock Pot: Lightly grease the inside of your crock pot to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Add Chicken to Crock Pot: Place the 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts evenly in the crock pot in a single layer.
  3. Mix Seasonings and Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the ranch seasoning mix, onion soup mix, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, and garlic powder if using. Stir well until fully blended.
  4. Pour Sauce Over Chicken: Pour the mixture evenly over the chicken breasts, making sure they are fully coated with the sauce.
  5. Cook Slowly: Cover the crock pot with the lid and cook on low for 6-7 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
  6. Check Seasoning: About 30 minutes before serving, taste the gravy and add salt and pepper as needed to suit your preference.
  7. Serve and Garnish: Carefully remove the chicken breasts and plate them. Spoon the creamy gravy over the chicken and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot alongside your favorite sides.

Notes

  • For a thicker gravy, remove the chicken once cooked and turn the crock pot to high, cooking uncovered for 15-30 minutes until sauce thickens.
  • You can use water instead of chicken broth but broth adds better flavor.
  • Optional garlic powder enhances the depth of flavor but can be omitted if preferred.
  • This recipe is great for meal prep and leftovers reheat well.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles to soak up the delicious gravy.
