Description

Crispy, flavorful garlic fries made by baking frozen french fries to golden perfection and tossing them in a fragrant garlic and parsley oil. A simple, delicious side dish that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Fries

  • 28 ounce (794 g) bag of frozen french fries
  • 1/8 cup (30 ml) vegetable oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Garlic Oil

  • 1/8 cup (29 ml) vegetable oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 handful fresh parsley, finely minced

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450 °F (232 °C) and spray two baking sheets with cooking spray. Set aside for later use.
  2. Coat the Fries: In a large bowl, add the frozen french fries. Drizzle half of the vegetable oil (approximately 1/8 cup) over the fries and toss well to coat them evenly.
  3. Bake the Fries: Divide the fries evenly between the prepared baking sheets. Place the trays in the oven and bake for 20 minutes, until the fries begin to brown and become tender.
  4. Increase Oven Temperature: After the initial 10 minutes of baking, increase the oven temperature to 500 °F (260 °C) and continue baking for another 7-10 minutes until the fries are crisp and have a deep golden-brown color.
  5. Prepare Garlic Oil: While the fries are baking, mix the remaining 1/8 cup vegetable oil with the minced garlic and finely minced fresh parsley in a small bowl. Stir to combine thoroughly and release the flavors.
  6. Toss with Garlic Oil: Once the fries are finished baking, immediately transfer them to the bowl containing the garlic oil using tongs. Toss the fries gently but thoroughly until they are fully coated with the fragrant garlic and herb oil.
  7. Season and Serve: Sprinkle the garlic fries with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot to enjoy the optimal crispness and garlic flavor.

Notes

  • Use frozen fries for ease and consistency in texture.
  • Adjust garlic quantity based on your preference for garlic intensity.
  • Fresh parsley adds a bright herbal note; dried parsley can be substituted but fresh is recommended.
  • Ensure fries are tossed immediately after baking to absorb the garlic oil while hot.
  • For extra crispiness, spread fries in a single layer on the baking sheets without crowding.
