Description

Honey Garlic Salmon is a delicious and healthy main course featuring tender salmon fillets glazed with a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. Marinated briefly and cooked to perfection on the stovetop, this Asian-inspired dish is quick to prepare and perfect for a nutritious weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon and Marinade

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Cooking

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Garnish (Optional)

  • Chopped fresh parsley
  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, and black pepper until well combined. This mixture serves both as the marinade and the glaze sauce.
  2. Marinate the salmon: Place the salmon fillets into a shallow dish or a zip-top bag. Pour half of the marinade over the fish, ensuring all pieces are coated. Seal and refrigerate for 15 to 30 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
  3. Cook the salmon: Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Remove salmon from the marinade and pat it dry gently with paper towels to avoid excess moisture. Place fillets skin-side down in the skillet and cook for 4 to 5 minutes until nicely caramelized and golden brown on the skin side.
  4. Flip and finish cooking: Turn the salmon fillets over and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Prepare the glaze sauce: While the salmon cooks, pour the reserved half of the marinade into a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat and let simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until slightly thickened into a glaze.
  6. Serve: Spoon the warm glaze over the cooked salmon fillets. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and lemon wedges if desired. Serve immediately with your preferred side dishes.

Notes

  • This recipe also works great with trout or cod as an alternative to salmon.
  • Serve alongside steamed rice, roasted vegetables, or a fresh green salad for a complete dinner.
  • If you prefer baking, cook the salmon at 400°F (200°C) for 12 to 15 minutes until cooked through.
