Ingredients
Scale
Protein
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 12 oz smoked sausage, sliced into ½-inch rounds
Vegetables
- 3 cups broccoli florets
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ¼ cup honey
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Serving
- Cooked rice or noodles (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and crushed red pepper flakes if you are using them. Set this flavorful mixture aside to use later.
- Cook the sausage. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced smoked sausage and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it is nicely browned and heated through. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.
- Sauté the broccoli. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and toss in the broccoli florets. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the broccoli is crisp-tender, maintaining a bright green color.
- Cook the shrimp. Push the broccoli to the side of the skillet and add the shrimp to the open space. Season the shrimp with salt and black pepper. Cook the shrimp for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side, until they turn pink and are cooked through.
- Combine everything with the sauce. Return the browned sausage to the skillet with the shrimp and broccoli. Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce over all the ingredients and toss everything together to coat evenly. Allow it to cook for another 2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and everything is heated through.
- Serve. Remove the skillet from heat and serve the honey garlic shrimp, sausage, and broccoli hot. For a complete meal, serve it over cooked rice or noodles if desired.
Notes
- You can substitute the broccoli with bell peppers, snap peas, or a frozen stir-fry vegetable mix for variety.
- For extra flavor and visual appeal, garnish the finished dish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions.
