Ingredients
Scale
Meat and Seasoning
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Vegetables
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
Cheese
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded provolone cheese
Other
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Caramelize the Onions & Peppers: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and green bell peppers, then season them with salt and black pepper. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are soft and caramelized. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Patties: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently and then form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
- Cook the Patties: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet and heat over medium-high heat. Place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your preferred level of doneness.
- Melt the Cheese: In the last minute of cooking, evenly top each patty with a mixture of shredded mozzarella and provolone cheese. Cover the skillet with a lid to trap heat and help the cheese melt smoothly.
- Toast the Buns: While the cheese melts, lightly toast the hamburger buns either in a toaster, oven, or on a separate dry skillet until they are golden and crisp to add extra flavor and texture.
- Assemble the Burgers: Place each cheesed patty on the toasted buns and generously top with the caramelized onions and bell peppers.
- Serve & Enjoy! Serve the burgers immediately while hot and juicy for the best taste experience.
Notes
- You can substitute provolone with another melting cheese like American or Swiss for variation.
- For extra flavor, add a dash of hot sauce or a slice of tomato when assembling.
- To make it gluten-free, substitute the hamburger buns with gluten-free buns or lettuce wraps.
- Use medium to medium-well beef patties for optimal juiciness and texture.
- Worcestershire sauce adds umami, but you can omit it for a simpler flavor.
