Scale
Base Ingredients
- 1½ cups whole milk
- ½ cup canned pumpkin puree
- ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- Pinch of ground cloves
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of sea salt
Chocolate and Toppings
- 2 ounces white chocolate, roughly chopped
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Heat the milk and pumpkin mixture: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the whole milk, canned pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, ground cloves, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Heat the mixture, whisking occasionally, until it is hot but not boiling, about 5 minutes.
- Melt white chocolate: Add the roughly chopped white chocolate to the hot milk mixture. Stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Serve: Pour the pumpkin spice hot chocolate into two mugs. Top with whipped cream if desired and sprinkle a small pinch of additional pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon for extra flavor. Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- Use whole milk for a rich and creamy texture; for a lighter version, substitute with almond or oat milk.
- Adjust pumpkin pie spice and cloves to taste for preferred spice intensity.
- White chocolate can be substituted with milk or dark chocolate for a different flavor profile.
- Optional whipped cream topping adds extra creaminess and sweetness.
- To make it vegan, use plant-based milk and vegan white chocolate.
