Ingredients
Scale
Salmon Patty Ingredients
- 3 (5 oz.) cans boneless, skinless salmon
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- 2 large eggs
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- A few dashes of seasoned salt
- ¼ teaspoon cilantro
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon parsley
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil recommended)
For Serving
- 1 fresh lime (for garnish)
- Tartar sauce (for dipping)
Instructions
- Prepare Salmon: Drain the cans of salmon thoroughly and, if preferred, remove any skin or bones to ensure a smooth texture in your patties.
- Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained salmon, milk, panko bread crumbs, eggs, salt, black pepper, seasoned salt, cilantro, onion powder, and parsley. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Shape Patties: Form the salmon mixture into patties approximately 2 to 3 inches wide. You should yield around 8 to 10 patties depending on your preferred size.
- Heat Oil: Place a skillet over medium heat and add enough oil to cover the bottom. Heat the oil until it is hot and ready for frying.
- Fry Patties: Carefully place the salmon patties in the hot skillet. Fry each side for about 4 to 5 minutes, or until the patties are golden brown and have a crispy exterior.
- Drain Excess Oil: Remove the patties from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve: Garnish with a fresh squeeze of lime and serve with tartar sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy your homemade salmon patties!
Notes
- Ensure the oil is sufficiently hot before frying to achieve a crispy crust and prevent the patties from absorbing excess oil.
- Removing skin and bones from salmon is optional; small bones can be left for added calcium but should be removed if preferred.
- Panko breadcrumbs provide a lighter, crispier texture compared to regular breadcrumbs.
- Adjust seasoning to taste; additional herbs like dill or chives can complement the salmon flavor.
- These patties can be served on buns as sandwiches or alongside a fresh salad for a complete meal.
